I just realized that, in the flurry of activity last week, I never gave you anything to look at. Irresponsible and rude of me, I know. So, in abbreviated form, I will give you exciting green links from both last week and this one. Look at all this . . .

Episode 18

Lot’s of information about dirt, where its going and how we can get it to stay put.

Apparently in the distant past, before the Internet, people sent something called “letters”, they sometimes forgot the name of an obscure movie forever and they looked up businesses in an overweight tome known as The Yellow Pages. Unfortunately, despite the fact that their use for anything other than a doorstop or a booster seat has been long since eliminated, these Yellow Pages continue to be produced and delivered, wasting trees, fuel and cupboard space. Now you can help stop this irrational printing of business information and ads. Sign up to have your home and/or office removed from the unsolicited delivery of phone books.

Solar panels without the huge upfront investment? Leave it to the Nutmeg State.

I don’t believe a disagreement with liars to be a political statement, so I feel alright about using this apolitical blog space to ask why the hell there doesn’t seem to be an appropriate and effective response to the falsehoods repeated endlessly in the conservative media? Look at some of these oil related yarns that are being spun right now. Unfortunately, with 63% of Americans supporting off-shore drilling, it appears that merely repeating a lie often enough can make it true. Let’s try it . . . I have washboard abs, I have washboard abs, I have washboard abs . . . damn.

Episode 19

What are some things we could make with 6 million dead carp? The 6 Million Carp Man . . . Carp Mahal . . . 6 million “Dead Carp Behind Your Fridge” practical jokes . . . Wall-to-wall Carp-et for a good section of Brooklyn . . . Sorry, those were bad, but the opportunity does make one think.

We care about the earth, but does that mean we also have to care about bats? If so, we might want to see what we can do about our alternative energy solutions causing bats’ lungs to explode.

Speaking of wind energy, the issue, as one would expect, gets more complicated as we start making more of it.

We think energy is costing us a lot out of pocket, but that doesn’t even account for the cost of subsidizing the poor struggling energy companies.

Wow, It has been a terrible week for Postgreen blogging. We are ashamed of our performance but promise something really exciting in the next 24 hours to make up for it. Well, “really exciting” might be a bit of a stretch, but we will definitely be giving you something different. So, keep an eye out for that, but first, look at this . . .

Everyone is talking about it, and I haven’t had the chance to be the first one to tell anyone. I’ve been “scooped” left and right. So, if one of you could pretend not to have heard about MIT’s new solar news, I would appreciate it.

This device may make you look a little more ridiculous but with cycling outfits being what they are, what difference is a tiny addtional absurdity going to make. Besides, if you are an olympian, this could be the only thing between you and the toxic soup China refers to as “air”.

Bears, conspiritors in the great climate change cover-up, seek to deter scientists from studying the effects of climate change. Some speculate that these bears are on the oil companies’ payroll but that claim remains heavily disputed. And, who wants to argue with an angry, self-righteous bear?

As you have probably predicted, the US government has once again decided to ignore science, popular opinion, sensory evidence and basic rational thought in exchange for bribes from lobbyists. It seems that the EPA is due for a name change to something that more accuratley reflects their policies. I’m not sure who or what they are currently protecting, but I rather doubt the environment has anything to do with it.

Whoa. Um . . . this takes tree-hugging to a whole new level. Keep the volume down if you’re watching at work, or turn it up and freak people out when they bust you watching suggestive tree shots from Green Peace.

It has been an exciting week at Postgreen with meetings at city hall, new projects beginning, imminent land settlement and new electronic toys. We have a bunch of exciting stuff in the works so be sure to stay tuned. While you wait for us to amaze youwith our next wave of happenings look at this cool stuff I found on the internets . . .

I know that everyone already knows about it, but as an avid walker I was pretty excited about reading this bit of news on Google’s walking directions. Check out my walk to work . . .

As I have mentioned before, I usually avoid politics in this blog, but speaking about our current president seems to have left the realm of politics and entered the surreal. For example, note the comment he made at the recent G8 conference.

It turns out that the individual smells that make up “new car smell” might not be particularly good for you. I now regret asking my fiancee to splash on the scent before every date. I just love a woman that smells like bromine, chlorine and heavy metals.

Amazon is selling garbage, but it is pretty garbage.

I want prescient ants to exist as much as the next person, but one wonders if a certain Turkish gentleman simply needs to get out more.

I am away on vacation if by vacation we mean trying to work in an unknown town with limited internet resources and sporadic phone service. Yes, I know. Vacation and work are not meant to be intertwined, but alas, the startup life is one that intertwines work with virtually everything. Fortunately, this “work”, justifies my constant access to the bounties of the information super highway and allows me to present a sampling of its wonders to you, our faithful readers. Look at this cool stuff I found . . .

The first one was built to deter invading hordes of barbarians, but the new great wall in China seems to be encouraging them to enter. Huge, shiny and environmentally conscious. What barbarian could resist. Unfortunately, it could just be a sparkly piece of bait to lure us into their poisoned air.

Okay, he calls gas “petrol” and gas stations “garages” but I’ll forgive him for being some kind of crazy foreigner. If I don’t, he might turn his amazing powers of prescience on me. Imagine a picture of yours truly in 20 to 30 years. If that wouldn’t drive my fiancee away, I don’t know what would.

Call me stuck in the 18th century, but bloomers are a wonderful undergarment, rife with mystery and comfortable to boot. Anyway, it is nice to see them used to illustrate something other than puritanical backwardness for once.

Chad actually found this link and shared it with me in Google Reader, so I struggled with whether or not I should use it. After all, he has his own links quota to fill now. Then I remembered that the link was about beer and I thought to myself “I like beer. I like talking about beer. Who is this Chad character to try to stand between me and talking about beer. I’ll show him . . . etc.” Anyway, here’s the link. Sorry Chad.

I’ll admit that I’m linking to this because the article uses the word ecosexual, but really, it is a great example of the way in which the word green is being exploited to market virtually everything without requiring much in the way of green performance from the product, service or social event. First it’s green speed dating and next thing you know I’m headed out for green snow mobiling with my pals from the green bowling team in our green SUVs.

We have celebrated our nation’s independence, started a delicious breakfast club and begun a significant blog undertaking, and I still find time to scour the internet for entertaining and educational links just for you. See how much I care. Now, look at this . . .

Finally someone found a good use for Coors Lite that doesn’t involve incapacitating frat boys.

Hello new epoch. Goodbye world as we know it?

The orientation of your toilet paper roll is no longer a simple style choice. Careful consideration of the over/under debate reveals the proper way to hang your wipes. Did someone say low fiction coefficient?

Kegs are green. I just wanted to get that out of the way so there are no doubts about my reasons for posting this. Yes, I like beer. I like outdoor parties where said beer is served. But, in the end kegs are green and that is why I am pointing at this.

Since we are on the topic of beer anyway, let’s talk about accessories.

Do not go gentle into that good night . . . go green.

And finally a little something for your inner geek. Though I have to say the Millennium Falcon did not look properly maintained for optimal mileage.

We are currently discussing the shape and direction of this blog, and this has turned out to be a great excuse for my inborn laziness. I feel no compunction to write posts that may be contrary to the eventual blogging strategy we develop, and therefore, I have resorted to silence during the planning process. Fortunately, the “Look at This” section seems likely to be an ongoing feature so you will not have to do without the benefit of my wanderings and wittisisms during our time of blog meditation. So while we argue the various blog focus options look at this . . .

While my collection of plastic milk crate and cinder block furniture may or may not qualify, there are definitely some stylish recycled/reused products out there.

You have no doubt heard the common warning about comparing apples to oranges unless of course you are the average real estate appraiser.

Sub-Arctic Ice Volcanoes is not just the name of my new indy rock band, it is also the central arguement of yet another attempt to debunk global warming.

Flip flops – You’ve put your feet in them. Now, put your feet on them.

While researching that second link I left my apples and oranges out on the counter a little too long. Sure enough, the fruit flies showed up. Fortunately, I now have a solution for those pesky invaders.

There has been a lot of talk around the office about getting some postgreen bikes. Could this be the answer?

Today marks my first day as an employee of postgreen, and Chad has made an effort to keep me too busy to write this post. Even now he is distracting me with ideas about the 100k House line. Dammit Chad, I’m trying to tell people about all the cool stuff I found on the Internet this week! Jeez.

Try to ignore him and look at this . . .

Now I dislike a wet newspaper as much as the next guy, but what is one to do with all that pesky plastic protecting our informative black and white from the summer storms. Well, now you can have your unsmeared ink and a gift for the special person in your life.

Yes these ideas are crazy . . . crazy like a fox . . . if that fox were keen on saving the world from an impending climate disaster.

George Carlin is dead, but his thoughts on meat leave on. Thanks interweb.

And my fiancee said those pizza boxes I was saving in the basement wouldn’t be good for anything. Hello pepperoni scented recliner. That’ll teach her to question my absurd hoarding.

A little brief today, but what can I say. I need a post work beverage and a little down time.

Searching for valuables in the flotsam and jetsam that washes ashore can be a tedious and potentially unrewarding task. It is much better to find an experienced beachcomber, follow them at a discreet distance and wait until they discover a treasure amidst the trash. When that happens a little blunt trauma to the back of said beachcomber’s head can make his treasure yours.

Well, consider me your beachcomber but instead of clubbing me with a conch shell, just look at this . . .

Some people carry important papers in their briefcases, some carry small unmarked bills, but you could be the person transporting pure power in your sporty attache’.

Alright, technically this isn’t “green” except in the way that it glorifies nature, but if you have ever seen cooler pictures of birds, I demand you explain why you have kept them from me. Well?

For decades the citizens of Chicago believed their heritage was one of chilly discomfort, but it turns out they were merely overwhelmed with natural resources. One, big, blustery resource.

The representatives of the South American Defense Council sit around a vast wooden table in the secret command bunker deep in the Amazon Basin. Despite the rules, a visibly shake Argentinean general lights a hand rolled cigarette. Nobody complains. A hopeless silence has decended on the proceedings. Despite days of debate and discussion, no one knows how to counter the devestating invasion of the mighty Chinook Salmon.

There are good protest ideas and bad protest ideas. There are also activities that enhance ones enjoyment of the human form and ones that don’t. I’ll let you decide where naked biking falls in both those categories. Depending on where you work this might be one to save for the home computer.

Well, we’ve broken the whole nudity barrier, so we might as well run with it. At least this commercial will probably be all right for work.

Oh, and for those that may have missed it, look at me take it a bit over the top for the 100k House on the stage at Ignite Philly.

Wow, so many exciting green links have been ignored in favor of focusing on and recovering from Ignite Philly. Rather than the normal hump-day (that’s Wednesday and shame on anyone who thought otherwise), Look at This has been pushed all the way back until Friday. An embarrassing lack of consistency? Maybe, but we had a hell of a presentation on the 100k house instead, so you’ll have to forgive us. Don’t worry, I will definitely post somelinks to the video of the event when it becomes available, and you can judge. For now though, look at this:

I’ve been a big fan of beverages in bags ever since I ripped open my first box of wine and enjoyed the novelty and increased portability of the silver sack inside. Now, apparently, I can get milk in a bag as well. Convenient, greenish and somewhat pleasantly udder-like . . . too much?

As a kid I remember using bamboo for lots of things like swords, clubs and lightsabers. Admittedly, there is a sort of theme here, but still the stuff is pretty versitile. I just never realized how versitile.

I enjoy cooking, and I hate plastic cutting boards. Turns out that for once my hate is properly directed.

One of my greatest downfalls as an artist is my inability to draw a true circle. My stick figures lack the same expressive power when their heads are shaped like kidney beans. Well, apparently art doesn’t always require excellent drawing skills, and the world occasionally provides the circles for you. Tin cans, for instance, have a very pleasing circular shape, and tin can art is much more attractive than it sounds.

This is about painting dead squirrels. Having once done an art film involving roadkill, I couldn’t resist pointing this one out.

That’s it for now, but I promise some more original thought fodder in the next couple of days.

It is Wednesday, or 4th day if the pagan references to Woden (Woden’s Day) offend your Quaker-esque sensibilities, and in celebration, we have yet another collection of interesting web findings to share with you. So sit back, relax and look at this . . .

Just when I thought there were no more new things to do with my urine, something like this comes along. Boy is my fiancee going to be relieved.

Some people say you can’t learn anything from a banana. Well, have I got a lesson for them.

Now, I’m not one for drinking Heineken, at least not in The States. Skunky lager just isn’t my cup of tea. But, if I had some Sly Fox cans lying around the house I might be up for trying this beer friendly reuse project. I’m told it also works with soda cans, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

What’s a Wednesday without dire portents of doom and destruction?

The sea is full of terrible dangers. If you watched the Planet Earth series with the great whites leaping 6 feet out of the water, you would know this. Here’s a little visual of some of the most dangerous creatures in the Mediterranean.

If you have something else we should look at this week, put it in the comments.
